Alappuzha: A speeding bus... an accident could have happened at any moment. Alarmed passengers immediately called the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD). When the bus reached its destination, MVD officials were waiting. The complaint was found to be valid, and a decision was made to cancel the driver’s license.

The incident happened the other day and a complaint was filed against a private bus operating on the Cherthala–Alappuzha route.

The bus was being driven at high speed and in a dangerous manner. Passengers reported the issue by calling the official mobile number of the Motor Vehicles Department. Many passengers lodged complaints. The officials took it seriously. When the bus reached Alappuzha, it was taken into custody by the officials and was not allowed to conduct service later.

Statements were taken from both the passengers and the bus staff. Since the complaint was found to be true, the driver’s license will be suspended, said RTO Saji Prasad. A show-cause notice will be issued prior to that.

Moreover, the driver must attend a five-day road safety awareness class conducted by the Motor Vehicles Department. The MVD has decided to proceed with the license cancellation once the driver completes the class.
