All 20 Campus Front activists accused in the 2012 murder of Vishal in Chengannur have been acquitted, with the prosecution set to appeal.

Alappuzha: In the case of the murder of 19-year-old Vishal, a member of the ABVP Chengannur City Committee, all 20 accused, who were Campus Front activists, have been acquitted.
The Mavelikkara Additional Sessions Court delivered the verdict, stating in a single line that all accused are acquitted. Further details will emerge once the judgment copy is released. Following the verdict, the prosecution has indicated that they will appeal to the higher court.
According to the prosecution, Campus Front activists planned the attack and stabbed Vishal to death on 16 July 2012, when he arrived at Chengannur Christian College to attend a programme welcoming undergraduate students. ABVP members Vishnuprasad and Sreejith, who were with Vishal, were also injured in the attack.
Initially, the local police investigated, but delays in arrests led the Crime Branch to complete the investigation. A total of 20 individuals, including one minor, were chargesheeted in the case.
