Kannur: Police officials arrested Akash Thillankeri, the prime accused in the Shuhaib murder case, under the Kerala Anti-social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) on Wednesday.

Police imposed KAAPA against Thillankeri for allegedly beating up a police officer in Viyyur Central Jail. He was taken into custody when he arrived at his house to attend his daughter's naming ceremony. This is the second time Thillankeri is charged under KAAPA.

Meanwhile, his relatives protested against the move and illegally assembled in front of the station.

Thillankeri was arrested under KAAPA last February and served six months in Viyyur Jail. He was released from the prison recently.

Tillankeri has allegedly beat up the official who suspected him of using a mobile phone inside the prison.
