Kozhikode: The All India Youth Federation (AIYF) strongly criticised the state police in connection with the Pantheerankavu dowry abuse case. AIYF Kerala State Secretary, TT Jismon, opined that the police had seriously failed in handling the case.
The case pertains to a complaint filed by the North Paravur native alleging physical abuse from her husband, Rahul P. Gopal, a Kozhikode native. The incident came to public attention after the family alleged that the Pantheerankavu police failed to take necessary action.
"Serious lapses on the part of the police to register sexual assault cases have led to the deaths of many victims. Family problems are taken very lightly by the police," he said. Jismon also alleged that the number of criminals is also increasing in the police force. He demanded that the strength of the police force be increased in the state.
