IUML MLA Fathima Tehlia alleged she was targeted with AI-generated images and abusive social media content, prompting the Kerala Assembly Speaker to refer the matter to the cyber police.

IUML MLA Fathima Tehlia on Wednesday raised the issue of alleged cyber harassment in the Kerala Assembly, claiming she had been targeted through AI-generated images and abusive content circulating on social media.
Participating in the discussion on the Finance Bill, the Perambra legislator said the rapid growth of social media had created an environment where anonymous users could 'freely abuse and malign others online.'
Tehlia said the rise of artificial intelligence had made it easier to create and spread manipulated images and misleading content, increasing the risks faced by women in public life.
She stressed the need to ensure a safer environment for women to participate in public discourse, both offline and online.
Following her remarks, Assembly Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan directed that copies of the alleged abusive social media posts displayed by the MLA in the House be placed on the Table of the Assembly.
The Speaker also assured Tehlia that the Assembly secretariat would forward the material to the cyber police for appropriate action.
