Kollengode (Palakkad): Nine-year-old Vinodhini from Ozhivuppara in Pallassana, is all set to return to school after a five-and-a-half month hiatus. While playing with her brother at home, Vinodhini suffered a bone fracture on September 24, 2025. However, due to alleged medical negligence during her treatment, her condition worsened, and doctors were forced to amputate her right hand.

The prolonged treatment interrupted her education and caused her to miss several months of classes. Vinodhini, a fourth-grade student at Pallassana Ozhivuppara ALP School, missed several classes but is now preparing to return to school on Monday with her family members before the annual exams and meet her classmates. Vinodhini is now filled with excitement as she is eager to reunite with her friends.

Vinodhini is daughter of Vinod, a construction labourer, and Praseetha. Supporting the family in their time of need, the Kerala Local Self Government Employees Organization has donated 5 cents of land in Pallavurkkadu. A voluntary organisation has come forward with a promise to build a house for them. Until their new home is completed, the family plans to stay in a rented house to ensure Vinodhini can continue her studies without further interruption.
