Pathanamthitta: Manjusha, wife of ADM Naveen Babu, said that her husband had no intimacy with Kannur Collector Arun K. Vijayan to discuss personal matters. She spoke to reporters following reports that the collector had changed his statements, claiming that Naveen had told him he made a mistake. The collector alleged that Naveen had met him in his chamber after the farewell meeting at the collectorate on October 14. Naveen Babu was found dead by suicide on October 15 at his quarters in Pallikkunnu, near Kannur.
“Whatever he is saying is a lie. Naveen Babu had no intimate personal relationship with the collector. There is no chance that Naveen could have opened up to him. The collector is not someone with whom personal matters could be shared. I don’t believe the collector; his statements are suspicious,” Manjusha said.
Although the collector had previously said that there was no communication with Naveen Babu after the farewell function, he later changed his stance, claiming that Naveen had come to his chamber and said he made a mistake. This statement was quoted by PP Divya’s advocate during the trial.
Congress and other opposition parties are raising concerns over the collector’s change of stance, alleging a conspiracy to help Divya in this case so that she could be bailed out easily.
