Kochi: In a fresh development in the actress assault case, the complainant has filed a petition against former Kerala DGP R. Sreelekha for her remarks in favour of actor Dileep, claiming there was no evidence against him.

The survivor has approached the trial court, requesting it to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Sreelekha. The petition to the trial court comes just as the final arguments in the assault case are about to begin.

In interviews with certain online channels and on her YouTube channel, she had spoken in Dileep's favour. Sreelekha dismissed crucial police findings regarding the case at a time when reinvestigation into the controversial case is at its final stages. She had also alleged that accused Pulsar Suni had previously mistreated actresses and claimed that it was not Suni but a fellow inmate who had sent letters to Dileep from prison.

Sreelekha also expressed doubts about whether Pulsar Suni and his associates were actually a hired gang. She noted that they used to be involved in extortion and threatening people. Furthermore, she also claimed conspiracy over the letter issued by Pulsar Suni from prison.

On Tuesday, the survivor wrote to the President of India requesting action against the perpetrators who were involved in releasing a memory card containing footage of her assault. She urged that those responsible for violating her privacy be held accountable.

At the time of the assault, Sreelekha was the jail superintendent, and she had made several remarks during the ongoing investigation into Dileep's involvement.
