Special prosecutor Sureshan resigned soon after the high court rejected the plea to change the trial court.
The dramatic announcement of the resignation was made when the court considered the case for resuming its trial. Joseph Manavalan, who assists Sureshan in this case, informed the court about the decision. They also stated in the court that the resignation has been forwarded to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department.
The Supreme Court has directed that the trial of the case should be completed within February 4 next year. With this, the probe officials have been directed to inform their decision in proceeding with the trial.
Though it was decided to file an appeal against the high court order, the government's final decision in this matter is being delayed.
With the resignation of the prosecutor, the trial is under question. If a new prosecutor is appointed, it will take time for the person to study the case in detail. So, the trial in the case is likely to be delayed further.
