Funeral arrangements for veteran Malayalam actor-director sreenivasan are underway, with public mourning scheduled in Ernakulam later on Saturday

Kochi: Noted Malayalam actor, director, and screenwriter Sreenivasan passed away on Saturday morning at a private hospital in Tripunithura near Kochi. He was 69. Following his demise, attention has turned to funeral arrangements and public mourning, as fans and admirers across Kerala prepare to pay their last respects.
According to film industry sources, Sreenivasan’s body was first moved to Tripunithura General Hospital and then to his residence in Kandanad, Ernakulam district, where family members and close friends gathered.

Sreenivasan’s funeral is planned for Sunday morning at 10 AM at his residence in Kandanad. Before the funeral, his body will be taken to Ernakulam Town Hall from 1 PM to 3 PM on Saturday for public viewing. Fans and admirers from across Kerala are expected to gather to pay tribute to the legendary actor.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is scheduled to visit the Town Hall to offer condolences. Actor Mammootty, accompanied by his wife Sulfath, has already arrived at the residence to pay his respects, highlighting the deep admiration Sreenivasan commanded across the film, cultural, and political spheres.
Sreenivasan’s sons, Vineeth and Dhyan, are grieving alongside family and friends. Vineeth had reached Tripunithura General Hospital earlier before the body was brought home, while Dhyan, who arrived from out of town, was visibly emotional upon seeing his father.
Sreenivasan passed away at 8:30 AM on Saturday after experiencing breathing difficulties during a dialysis session. He was admitted to Tripunithura Taluk Hospital, where his death was confirmed. His wife, Vimala, was by his side during his final moments.
