Kollam: Police have arrested a man who had gone into hiding after being booked for allegedly making defamatory and abusive posts targeting the Chief Minister and Home Minister of Kerala on social media platforms. The accused has been identified as Biju, a resident of Padinjattinkara Muri of Kottarakkara.

According to authorities, the suspect published and circulated offensive posters directed at public figures using a Facebook account registered under the name ‘Biju Kadamkulam’. The police action followed a formal complaint lodged by a lawyer based in Kottarakkara. Upon learning that a criminal case had been registered against him, Biju turned off his mobile phone and absconded.

Following a targeted probe, a police team led by Ezhukone Sub-Inspector Deepu Pillai apprehended the suspect on Wednesday morning. Officers seized the mobile phone used to manage the Facebook account at the time of the arrest. Subsequent searches were conducted at both his residence and rented premises to inspect for additional electronic devices.

Kottarakkara Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) S Sheriff stated that the suspect is undergoing detailed interrogation, and the confiscated mobile phone will be forwarded through the court to a forensic science laboratory for analysis.
