Thiruvananthapuram: Chandy Oommen, son of former chief minister Oommen Chandy, will take oath as the new MLA from Puthuppally on Monday. He arrived at Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday early morning, after completing his ‘Padayatra’ thanking his voters in Puthuppally. Chandy Oommen is staying at the ‘Puthuppally House’. “This place is filled with the memories of my father. I will be staying here whenever I am in the capital city. The rest of the time, I will be engaged in my work in Puthuppally,” the newly elected MLA told the media.
Chandy Oommen reminisced the memories of his father and visited religious places on Sunday. He offered prayers at the Chenkal Maheshwaram Shiva Parvathi temple. He performed ‘thulabharam’ under the guidance of temple priests Swami Maheshwarananda Saraswati and Kumar Maheshwaram. Later on, he paid respects at the Oommen Chandy memorial in Ponvila.
“Detractors resorted to cheap tricks to malign my father during his lifetime. Bogus claims were made against him, the opposition often relied on below the belt tactics to deal with my father. But Oommen Chandy continues to shine like a bright light in the hearts of millions of Keralites even after his demise,” Chandy Oommen said.
