The quantity of liquor stored at the house was far above the legally permitted limit for personal possession in Kerala

Wayanad: The Excise Department has registered a case after foreign liquor and wine were seized from the family home of Reporter TV owner Anto Augustine. A case has been registered against Anto, owner of the house, under a non-bailable provision. During the inspection, the Excise team seized 43 litres of foreign liquor and 22 litres of wine from the house. The liquor seized from Anto's family home was imported foreign liquor.
The liquor was found during a search conducted by a special investigation team. Police informed the Excise Department and called officials to the spot to take further legal action. A team led by Kalpetta Excise Circle Inspector Sharafudheen then reached the location and took the liquor into custody.
The quantity of liquor stored at the house was far above the legally permitted limit for personal possession in Kerala. The legal limit for an individual to possess Indian-made foreign liquor is 3 litres, while the limit for wine is 3.5 litres. Although the law permits possession of up to 15 litres of various types of liquor, including beer, toddy and other foreign liquor, the quantity seized from the house was far higher than the permitted limit.
