Kozhikode: Two people died, and several others were injured after an explosion occurred during firecracker manufacturing at a house in Kurikkathoor, Kunnamangalam, on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as the house owner and his relative. The three injured individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital and are receiving treatment.

Preliminary reports suggest the accident took place while firecrackers were being manufactured inside the house. The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

It is reported that, as part of Vishu celebrations, a house was rented for firecracker manufacturing. The place is said to have been operating as an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit.

The Police and emergency personnel are on the site, and further details are awaited.
