Malappuram: A thirteen-year-old boy in Malappuram killed himself allegedly out of the dismay caused by the death of his pet fish.

Changaramkulam native Raveendran’s son Roshan was found hanging in his residence on Friday at around 8 am.

Roshan went to the terrace to feed the pigeons on Friday morning and he did not return even after a long time. The parents who went upstairs in search of Roshan found him hanging on a plastic rope tied to an iron pipe fixed in the shed on the terrace. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved.

Roshan’s relatives said that he was depressed following the death of a pet fish the other day that he reared in an aquarium.

Roshan was an eighth-standard student at Government Higher Secondary School in Mookkuthala. The body kept in the mortuary of Sunrise hospital in Changaramkulam will be entrusted to relatives only after the police inquest.
