Vagamon (Kerala): A revenue team has reclaimed 10 acres of land encroached upon by a private individual at the tourist hotspot of Varattumedu. An illegally constructed homestay building, cafeteria, iron fencing and stone retaining walls on the property were demolished. A tarpaulin-lined pond was also dismantled. The land was originally encroached upon by Varattumedu resident Pratheesh and subsequently transferred to Sebin Antony.

The operation was executed under the leadership of Peerumade Tahsildar Jojo V Sebastian, Land Acquisition Tahsildar R Hareendranath, Vagamon Village Officer P B Gopikrishnan, Elappara Village Officer Vijayakumar, Taluk Officers R Pradeep, A Najeeb and Siddique, alongside Rapid Action Force member S Rajkumar and Land Protection Force member Sasikumar.

Will actor Prakash Raj’s land come under scrutiny too?

Actor Prakash Raj also owns a portion of titled land (pattaya land) in the area. However, according to the Peerumade Tahsildar, a portion of the adjacent land lacks title deeds. A notice has been issued to survey and demarcate the land in Prakash Raj’s presence. Officials stated that he has not yet received the notice, and his mobile phone remains switched off.

Massive encroachments under the cover of title deeds

Pratheesh’s father Durairaj and grandmother Subbaiyya hold title deeds for two and a half acres of land in Varattumedu. Nearly 10 acres of adjacent land were encroached upon, where farming was also being carried out.
