A woman Naxalite was killed in a gunfight with security personnel during an anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, police said on Friday

Chhattisgarh: A woman Naxalite was killed in an encounter with security personnel in the forested region of Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Friday morning, a senior police official confirmed.
The gunfight broke out on a forested hill within the jurisdiction of Chhotebethiya police station during a joint anti-Naxal operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Border Security Force (BSF), said Kanker Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela.
The operation was launched based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of Maoist operatives across the Kotri river, specifically between Amatola and Kalpar villages.
"During the operation, the body of a woman Naxalite and a weapon were recovered from the site. The encounter is still ongoing, with intermittent exchange of fire continuing in the area," Elesela told PTI.
Further details are awaited as the operation progresses.
