If you are planning to book train tickets during the winter months, please be aware of service alterations affecting routes passing through Central Station. Due to heavy fog, many services are facing suspension, partial cancellation, or reduced frequency. These disruptions are extensive, generally beginning on 1 December and extending through February and March of the following year, with some suspensions continuing until February 2026.

Know before you go

Several key routes have been entirely halted for varying periods. If you rely on the following trains, you will need to seek alternative transport, as these services will remain cancelled.

Regarding full cancellations

The Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal service will remain entirely cancelled from 1 December through 12 February. The Jharkhand Swarnjayanti Express is also cancelled from 1 December until 26 February. Travellers should note that the Santragachi-Anand Vihar Terminal Weekly Superfast Express is cancelled from 1 December until 2 March.

The service running from Anand Vihar Terminal-Hatia Jharkhand Swarnjayanti Express will be suspended from 2 December until 27 February. Furthermore, the Anand Vihar Terminal-Gorakhpur route will remain cancelled from 2 December until 13 February. The Anand Vihar Terminal-Santragachi service is also cancelled during the period from 2 December to 3 March.

Two specific Garib Rath Express services are suspended: the Kathgodam-Kanpur Central Weekly Garib Rath Express from 8 December to 23 February, and the Kanpur Central-Kathgodam Garib Rath Express from 9 December to 24 February.

Regarding partial cancellations and reduced frequency

Several services that usually run daily or multiple times a week will experience reduced frequency. The Sealdah-Ajmer service, instead of running daily, will now operate only on Wednesdays and Fridays until 1 March. The return route, Ajmer-Sealdah, will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, reduced from its daily frequency.

The Anand Vihar Terminal-Bhagalpur train, which previously ran three days a week, is reduced to running weekly on Wednesdays. Correspondingly, the Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Terminal train will operate every Thursday.

The Kamakhya-Anand Vihar Terminal North-East Express will run only on Sundays and Wednesdays until 25 February, instead of daily. The Anand Vihar Terminal-Kamakhya North-East Express will run on Tuesdays and Fridays until 27 February, also replacing its daily schedule.

Until 28 February, the Alipurduar Junction-Delhi Sikkim Mahananda Express is scheduled to run on Saturdays and Wednesdays. The Delhi-Alipurduar Junction Express will operate on Mondays and Fridays until 27 February, reduced from its daily schedule.

The Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal Humsafar Express is reduced from four days a week to running on Wednesdays and Sundays until 15 February. The Anand Vihar Terminal-Gorakhpur Express is scheduled to run on Mondays and Thursdays until 12 February.

The Mau-Anand Vihar Terminal Express, which typically runs biweekly, is reduced to operating only on Tuesdays until 10 February. Finally, the Anand Vihar Terminal-Mau Express will run only on Fridays until 13 February.
