New Delhi: As India gears up to celebrate its 78th Independence Day on 15 August, a strong wave of patriotism is sweeping across the nation. Streets, markets, schools, and public buildings are adorned with the national tricolour, while citizens are actively preparing for the annual celebration of freedom.

Amid the build-up to Independence Day, a video has gone viral on social media featuring Abhishek Gautam, a young man from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, whose remarkable tribute to India’s fallen soldiers has captured national attention.

Gautam has tattooed the names of 559 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty across his body, as a personal tribute to their sacrifice.

In addition to the soldiers' names, Gautam's body is adorned with images of iconic Indian freedom fighters and national symbols, including:

  • Bhagat Singh
  • Mahatma Gandhi
  • Rani Lakshmibai
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
  • India Gate

His extraordinary display of patriotism has earned him a place in the India Book of Records, recognising both his dedication and the emotional impact of his body art.

Meanwhile, Chief Ministers of several BJP-led states took part in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign on Wednesday and hoisted the tricolour at their residences ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hoisted the tricolour at his residence. Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini hoisted the tricolour at his residence in Chandigarh while Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel hoisted the flag in Gandhinagar.

Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with his wife Sonal Shah, hoisted the flag at their residence in Delhi's Krishna Menon Marg and participated in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga campaign'.
