He offered financial aid of ₹20 lakh to grieving families and ₹2 lakh to the injured

Karur: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay has issued an emotional statement conveying his profound grief and condolences after a tragic stampede during his political rally in Karur on September 27, 2025, that claimed at least 39 lives and injured many more.
In a heartfelt message to his supporters, Vijay wrote that the events of the day have left his heart and mind overwhelmed with sorrow, as he struggles to come to terms with the irreparable loss of cherished lives. “My heart is shattered... my eyes and mind are clouded with sorrow,” he said, recalling the faces of his loved ones and supporters constantly flashing through his mind.
Vijay extended his deepest sympathies to the families mourning their loved ones and expressed solidarity with their pain, promising to stand closely by them in this difficult time. Acknowledging that no words can comfort in the face of such loss, he pledged financial assistance as a gesture of support: 20 lakh rupees to each family that lost someone and 2 lakh rupees to the injured receiving treatment. Though he humbly described the amounts as insufficient for the scale of the tragedy, he affirmed it as his duty to provide what he could as a member of the community.
Further, Vijay prayed for the speedy recovery of all those injured and assured that his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, will continue to provide all necessary help to the affected families.
The stampede occurred during a rally that drew a massive crowd, far exceeding the expected number of attendees, resulting in panic and chaos.
