Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay is currently in Mahabalipuram, Chennai, meeting the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic Karur stampede. The closed-door session marks his first direct interaction with the bereaved families since the incident.

According to a News18 report, Vijay is expected to spend five to six hours with the families, offering his condolences and listening to their concerns in a calm and controlled setting.

TVK has arranged the meeting at a resort in Mahabalipuram, where the party has reportedly booked around 50 rooms to accommodate the families. The arrangements were made to ensure that Vijay could meet each family individually and express his condolences in privacy.

The TVK leadership had been finalising a suitable venue in Chennai after attempts to hold the meeting in Karur faced logistical hurdles. Sources within the party said that finding a safe and secure space in Karur had proved difficult, as the location proposed by local authorities was deemed inadequate and potentially unsafe for managing large crowds.

The September 27 tragedy, which occurred during a TVK event in Karur, claimed 41 lives. Except for one family, all others have reportedly travelled to Chennai for the meeting.
