Mumbai: A plane carrying NCP leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar crashed on Wednesday morning while attempting to land at Baramati airport, according to initial reports. According to PTI, citing officials, Pawar and five other persons were killed in the mishap.
The incident occurred when the plane carrying NCP leader Pawar (66) and others was landing in Pune's Baramati area.
A video of the incident has since been shared on social media handles. Visuals showed debris from the aircraft scattered across the area, with flames and thick smoke rising from the wreckage.
Local residents who witnessed the incident said the leader was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital following the crash.
Details regarding the cause of the crash, the extent of damage to the aircraft, and Ajit Pawar’s medical condition are yet to be officially confirmed. Authorities are expected to release further information soon.
