Vande Bharat Express trains introduce Kerala’s favourite dishes, bringing regional flavours to onboard dining.

New Delhi: Indian Railways has begun serving regional food specialities on Vande Bharat Express trains running on six routes, including two in Kerala.
In the first phase, the revamped menu has been introduced on the Thiruvananthapuram–Kasaragod, Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram, Nagpur–Secunderabad, Sabarmati–Veraval, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Srinagar and Srinagar–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra routes. The dishes offered correspond to the cuisine of the station from which the journey begins.
On the Thiruvananthapuram–Kasaragod and Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram trains, passengers will be served steamed rice, vegetable and green gram stir-fry, kadala (chickpeas) curry, porotta, plain curd, palada payasam and appam.
Idiyappam, parippuvada, Chettinad vegetable gravy and soya bean fry are also included.
Railway sources said the updated menu will also be introduced on the newly launched Vande Bharat Sleeper trains operating through West Bengal and Assam.
