Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Udhampur's Majalta after a night-long search operation in the forested area.

Udhampur: Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district after a night-long operation in the forested areas of Majalta.
The gunfight broke out after the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint cordon-and-search operation in the Bratel Soan and Khubban areas on Wednesday night following inputs about the movement of suspected terrorists.
The operation began around 9 pm in the remote forest belt. Soon after the security forces moved into the area, firing and blasts were heard, with officials saying forces were targeting a suspected hideout.
The forest remained largely quiet for several hours before the operation intensified on Thursday morning. According to officials, the terrorists opened heavy fire in an attempt to break the security cordon, prompting retaliatory fire from the forces and triggering the encounter.
