Vijay assured that the truth would be revealed and described the incident as the most painful of his life

Chennai: Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay on Tuesday broke his silence over the tragic stampede at his rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur, which left 41 people dead. In a video statement, he said he had not yet met the victims’ families as his presence could trigger an “unusual situation,” but assured that he would visit them soon.
Calling it the most painful moment of his life, Vijay urged Chief Minister M K Stalin to take action against him directly instead of targeting his party leaders, several of whom face police cases in connection with the September 27 incident.
“If you seek vengeance, do anything to me, not my party men,” the top actor said, adding that the truth about the tragedy would soon emerge. He also clarified that he left Karur immediately on the day of the incident to avoid further risk to public safety.
