New Delhi: The Toyota Innova Hycross has become the latest model to undergo the Bharat NCAP crash test, securing a top-tier 5-star safety rating.

According to Bharat NCAP test results, the three-row MPV scored an impressive 30.47 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it earned 14.47 out of 16 points, offering good protection to the head and femur, and adequate protection to the chest. In the side movable deformable barrier test, the vehicle achieved a perfect score of 16 out of 16.

In terms of child occupant protection, the Innova Hycross received 45 out of 49 points. This included a full 24 out of 24 in the dynamic score, 12 out of 12 in CRS installation, and 9 out of 13 in vehicle assessment.

The Innova Hycross Hybrid variant is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including six airbags, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-hold assist, vehicle stability control, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, automatic high beam, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Toyota currently offers the Innova Hycross with two petrol powertrain options. The first is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 173 hp and 209 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT automatic gearbox. The second is a 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol engine delivering a combined 184 hp, paired with an e-Drive transmission. Toyota claims the hybrid variant offers a fuel efficiency of 23.24 kmpl, while the standard petrol version returns 16.13 kmpl.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Fortuner is expected to be among the next models tested under the Bharat NCAP programme.
