Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B R Naidu on Friday alleged that a large-scale ghee adulteration scam took place in the preparation of Tirumala laddu prasadam during the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government.

Addressing a press conference in Tirupati, Naidu said harmful chemicals were allegedly "used in Srivari laddu during YSRCP rule", calling it an “insult to Hindus” and a betrayal of crores of devotees who revere the sacred offering.

He said a CBI-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) charge sheet, recently filed in the Nellore ACB Court, has exposed serious irregularities, including sacrilege and financial wrongdoing linked to ghee procurement for the temple.

Naidu alleged that tenders were awarded to companies that did not have cattle or milk production facilities, terming it a “commission-based scam.”

The SIT has named 36 accused in the case, including nine TTD officials, five dairy experts, and others.
