New Delhi: The Tejas Express, launched in 2019 by IRCTC, holds the distinction of being India’s first private train, connecting major cities like New Delhi and Lucknow with unmatched comfort and speed. The semi-high-speed train boasts state-of-the-art features, including modern, ergonomically designed leatherette seats, onboard Wi-Fi, GPS-based passenger information systems, and automatic doors for enhanced passenger convenience.

Operating at a top speed of 160 km/h, the Tejas Express outpaces many popular trains like the Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and even certain routes of the Vande Bharat Express. Its coaches, designed and manufactured using advanced railway technology, include energy-efficient LED lighting, bio-vacuum toilets, and entertainment options such as LED screens and power charging ports at every seat.

Passengers can choose between AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car classes, with executive seats offering added leg rests and greater comfort. The train features meticulously maintained interiors with plush seating arrangements, high safety standards—including smoke and fire detection systems—and premium catering services that elevate the travel experience.

Despite its premium status reflected in fares higher than competing premium trains, the Tejas Express has been met with enthusiastic passenger response, breaking records in reservation turnovers and earning a reputation for punctuality and luxury.
