Two women died after their car hit a parked lorry in Walayar, Palakkad

Walayar (Palakkad): Two women from Tamil Nadu lost their lives after a car collided with a parked lorry at Walayar in Palakkad early Sunday morning. The accident occurred around 6 am on the Walayar–Coimbatore route near the Walayar check post.
The deceased have been identified as Lavanya (40) and Malar (40). Both were seated on the left side of the vehicle, one in the front seat and the other at the back, when the car hit the rear of the parked lorry.
The car was severely damaged, and the women were pulled out with much difficulty after the vehicle was cut open. They were first taken to a private hospital nearby and later shifted to the district hospital. However, doctors could not save their lives.
The group in the car included seven members from two families. They were travelling back to Chennai after attending a children’s music program in Kakkanad.
Two children also sustained injuries in the crash. Among them, Malar’s son remains in critical condition and has been moved to a private hospital in Coimbatore for further treatment.
The driver, Selvam, along with Lavanya’s husband Sairam and their children, were admitted to the district hospital.
