
Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu): Six workers were killed following an explosion at a firecrackers manufacturing unit near here on Saturday, an official said.
The blast is suspected to have taken place during the process of mixing chemicals and it flattened at least one room and led to the deaths.
According to sources, the incident took place at Sainath Fireworks, where the workers were engaged in the production of firecrackers when the explosion occurred.
Fire and Rescue personnel from Virudhunagar, Sattur, and Aruppukottai swiftly arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control.
At present, six bodies of men have been recovered, though their identities remain unknown. The bodies are being transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital in Virudhunagar for autopsy.
