Viral video from Sumit’s Academy in Kalkaji sparks outrage. Is it student abuse or a staged skit? Get the latest updates on the 2026 Delhi coaching controversy.

New Delhi: A viral video allegedly linked to Sumit’s Academy in Delhi’s Kalkaji area has exploded into a major online controversy after showing what appears to be a teacher aggressively confronting a student inside a classroom, followed by a clarification claiming it was a staged skit, a version many social media users are now refusing to believe.
The footage, which has not been independently verified by Mathrubhumi, shows a tense classroom moment involving teacher Sumit Sehgal and a student, quickly triggering outrage across platforms like X, Instagram, and Reddit. The intensity of the clip led many viewers to question how such behaviour could occur inside a coaching centre.
However, the controversy escalated further when a second video surfaced featuring the teacher, the student seen in the viral clip, and the student’s father. In the clarification, they claimed the footage was not real abuse but a skit intended to show strict classroom discipline from earlier times.
That explanation has now divided the internet even further.
Despite the clarification, a large section of social media users remain unconvinced. Many point to the original video’s intensity, including shouting, physical action, and student reactions, saying it appears too realistic to be scripted.
The involvement of the student’s father in defending the video has also drawn strong reactions, with users questioning the justification and why such a skit would be staged inside a classroom in the first place. Some also argue that the timing of the clarification suggests it was issued after backlash began, fueling “damage control” allegations.
Across platforms like X and Instagram, the debate has now split into two narratives- one side calling it a misunderstood skit, and the other insisting it looks like a post-viral explanation meant to calm outrage.
