Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, after suffering a hairline fracture from a fall at Parliament’s Makar Dwar, assured that he would continue his parliamentary duties and campaign work in Kerala. Tharoor, who will have his leg in a cast for 4–6 weeks, mentioned that he would use a wheelchair during this phase of the Budget Session, which concludes on February 13. The fall occurred as he was descending the Parliament steps while on a phone call, and he was helped up by leaders including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress’ Imran Masood.

Despite the mishap, Tharoor displayed optimism, sharing on social media that he had only minor bruises and a “bruised ego.” In a poetic reflection, he likened himself to a lamp that must navigate storms carefully.

When a reporter asked if he had been affected by the evil eye, Tharoor replied lightheartedly, ‘Lagne do nazar. We will continue working.’

On political matters, he emphasized that Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi should be allowed to speak on issues in the public domain, highlighting his commitment to parliamentary decorum.(With inputs from Agencies)
