Guwahati: At least four people were killed, and several others sustained injuries after unidentified assailants opened fire at Hotel Bilas Inn in Guwahati's Lachit Nagar area on Monday night.

The shooting took place around 9 pm near Bora Service, triggering panic in the area. The Guwahati Police Commissioner confirmed that four people had died in the incident.

Police teams and ambulances rushed to the scene shortly after the firing was reported.

According to preliminary reports, several people, including two women, were injured in the attack. An employee of Hotel Bilas Inn was also among those who suffered bullet injuries.

The identity of the attackers and the motive behind the shooting remain unknown.

Police have reached the spot and are gathering information to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
