
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that the upcoming Electronic City in Jagiroad will be named Ratan Tata Electronic City, Jagiroad, in honour of the late industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata.
"Today, we have decided to name the Electronic City in Jagiroad as Ratan Tata Electronic City, Jagiroad," Sarma stated.
Ratan Tata, who passed away on 9 October 2024 at the age of 86, was a towering figure in Indian industry. Under his leadership, the Tata Group expanded globally, acquiring brands such as Tetley, Jaguar Land Rover, and Corus. He was also known for his philanthropic efforts, contributing to various social causes.
The decision to name the Electronic City after Tata is a tribute to his contributions to India's industrial and technological advancement.
