Indian Railways has temporarily restricted platform ticket sales at 11 major stations from 16 to 28 October 2025 to manage heavy festive-season passenger traffic.

The Indian Railways has announced a temporary restriction on the sale of platform tickets at 11 major stations between 16 October and 28 October 2025 to control overcrowding during the festive season.
The Central Railway zone issued a circular stating that the decision aims to ensure passenger safety and smooth train operations during the period of heavy footfall. Passengers have been urged to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with railway officials.
The restriction applies to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Nashik Road, Manmad, Dadar, Nagpur, Thane, Solapur, Kalyan, Panvel, and Pune stations.
Authorities said the move is part of a larger crowd management strategy implemented every year to handle the surge in travellers during festive periods. Entry to platforms will be limited to passengers with valid travel tickets, and all travellers are advised to follow safety protocols issued by railway staff.
The Central Railway has requested public cooperation to ensure a safe and smooth journey experience during the festive season, marking 100 years of Indian Railways electrification (1925–2025).
