This follows a similar move last year benefiting 1.17 million employees and costing Rs 2,029 crore

New Delhi: In a festive gesture ahead of Diwali, the central government has announced the payment of a productivity-linked bonus (PLB) for railway employees. This decision will benefit more than 11 lakh staff across India, providing a timely reward for their efforts.
Last year, the Union Cabinet approved the PLB for over 11.72 lakh railway employees. The bonus was calculated as 78 days’ wages, totaling Rs 2,029 crore.
Which staff will receive the payment?
The bonus is intended for multiple categories of railway employees. This includes track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, pointsmen, ministerial staff, and other Group C employees.
Purpose of the productivity-linked bonus
The PLB is designed as a motivational tool, encouraging railway staff to contribute to the improvement of the Indian Railways’ performance. The incentive recognises their hard work and aims to boost efficiency.
When will employees get the bonus?
Eligible railway employees will receive the PLB ahead of the Durga Puja and Dusshera holidays, ensuring the payment coincides with the festive season.
