Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was briefly detained during the INDIA bloc’s protest march and later released.

Delhi Police briefly detained Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra during the INDIA bloc’s protest march to the Election Commission (EC) headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday.
She was later released after Opposition MPs protested against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and raised concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Security personnel stopped the march.
Rahul Gandhi led the march alongside senior Opposition leaders, including Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
Priyanka Gandhi and NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule also took part in the protest.
Security was significantly tightened across central Delhi ahead of the march, with barricades along the route to the EC headquarters.
Authorities also imposed traffic restrictions in several parts of the New Delhi district as they deployed a large security force.
The Opposition has demanded that Gyanesh Kumar step down and has called for the withdrawal of the SIR exercise.
Rahul Gandhi also posted on X during the protest, saying, ‘Gyanesh, it’s done, bro. Time to resign.’
The EC, however, has maintained that it carried out the electoral-roll revision process through established procedure, while the BJP has rejected the Opposition’s allegations.
