Gurugram: The investigation into the shocking murder of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav has uncovered substantial details about the financial background of her father and alleged killer, Deepak Yadav. According to NDTV, Deepak, 49, confessed to fatally shooting his daughter at their upscale Sushant Lok home on Thursday morning.
The crime, which occurred around 10:30 am, saw Deepak fire five rounds at his daughter while she was preparing breakfast. Three bullets struck her in the back. Radhika was rushed to Asia Maringo Hospital in Sector 56 by her uncle Kuldeep Yadav and cousin Piyush, but was declared dead on arrival.

Speaking to NDTV, an acquaintance from Deepak’s native Wazirabad village revealed that the accused owns several rental properties across Gurugram, earns between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakh per month in rental income, and possesses a luxury farmhouse. "Everyone in the village knows he is wealthy," the acquaintance stated.
The weapon used in the killing was a licensed .32 bore revolver. The same acquaintance remarked, "Only people with the right connections and money can manage that kind of licence. No common man keeps it."
The motive behind the crime appears to stem from long-standing tensions between father and daughter. According to NDTV, Deepak expressed discomfort with Radhika’s growing independence, her presence on social media, and her appearance in a music video. He reportedly told police that villagers mocked him for relying on his daughter’s earnings and that he had asked her to close down the tennis academy she operated in Sector 57.
However, this claim was dismissed by the same acquaintance, who described Deepak as a “sophisticated man” devoted to his daughter’s tennis career. “He had even given up his studies to teach his daughter tennis and bought racquets worth Rs 2 lakh for her,” they said. “There may be a personal reason behind the murder, not tennis or the tennis academy.”
Radhika lived with her parents in a two-storey home in Gurugram’s Sector 57, while her uncle’s family occupied the ground floor. According to the FIR, Kuldeep Yadav rushed upstairs upon hearing gunshots and found Radhika lying on the kitchen floor. The firearm was discovered in the drawing room nearby.
Deepak Yadav is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
