Prayagraj: The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is set to witness a historic Dharma Sansad on Monday, led by renowned spiritual leader and Bhagwat Katha orator, Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj. The key objective of the event is to discuss the establishment of the Sanatana Board, aimed at safeguarding Hindu temples, gurukuls, and gaushalas (cow shelters).

The Dharma Sansad is expected to be a gathering of prominent Hindu saints, spiritual leaders, and Sanatan Dharma proponents, who will discuss ways to protect and promote the interests of Sanatan Dharma and ensure the welfare of its institutions. Notable attendees include Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati, Jagadguru Nimbarkacharya ShriJi Maharaj, and other influential religious leaders.

In a video message, Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj stressed the importance of the Sanatana Board and its role in safeguarding the core values and heritage of Sanatan Dharma. “We all want the Sanatana Board to be constituted. We are placing a proposal before the government. All Dharmacharyas want the welfare of Sanatana and temples to remain secure, and this Dharma Sansad is an important step in that direction,” said Thakurji Maharaj.

The event will take place at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela grounds, a sacred venue that attracts millions of devotees every 12 years. The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, has already witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with over 110 million pilgrims participating in the holy dips at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

Actor Suniel Shetty also lent his support to the Dharma Sansad, urging Hindus to unite for the cause of the Sanatana Board. In a video message shared on social media, Shetty called the event a “historic moment” and appealed to Hindus to join in the effort to protect temples, gurukuls, and gaushalas.

“A historic moment awaits at Prayagraj Mahakumbh; crores will unite in devotion to the Sanatana Dharma on January 27 under the guidance of... a movement to establish the Sanatan Board...This is to protect our temples, gurukuls and gaushalas, so let's come together in devotion and commitment; join us at 'Shanti Seva Shivir Prayagraj,” said Shetty.

BJP MP Hema Malini also praised the initiative, acknowledging the importance of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj after 144 years. She stated, “On 27th January, Dharam Sansad is being organized there under Devaki Nanadan Thakur ji to discuss the formation of the Sanatana Board and protection of Sanatana Dharm.”

The board, according to its proponents, will ensure the safety and welfare of Sanatan Dharma’s institutions and promote the values of Hinduism across the country.
