Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly expressed concern for Wangchuk’s health, urging the activist to prioritize his recovery and follow medical advice.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has publicly urged climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to strictly follow medical advice and focus on recovery following the conclusion of his intensive 26-day hunger strike.
The Prime Minister's Appeal
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi shared a message expressing concern for the activist's well-being. The Prime Minister wrote: "I urge Sonam ji to follow the doctors' advice in his daily routine and regain his old weight as soon as possible. I pray to the Almighty for his good health."
Conclusion of the Hunger Strike
Wangchuk called off his fast late at night from a hospital in Gurugram, following written assurances from the central government concerning examination reforms and discussions on the NEET paper leak in Parliament. The breakthrough occurred after negotiations involving Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, alongside appeals from roughly 65 Members of Parliament across political lines.
The government also assured that it would view positively the decision not to register cases against individuals who participated in peaceful demonstrations and the recent 'Chalo Sansad' march. Medical professionals continue to monitor Wangchuk's recovery following substantial weight loss and physical strain incurred over the course of the 26-day protest.
