Pakistani troops fired across LoC in multiple sectors; Indian Army responded promptly to contain situation

J&K: Pakistani troops fired across the Line of Control (LoC) for the tenth consecutive night, targeting areas in Jammu and Kashmir including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. The Indian Army responded with a calibrated and proportionate response.
“During the night of 03–04 May 2025, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in J&K. Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately”, the Indian Army said in a statement.
The Army’s swift and measured response ensured operational control was maintained along the affected sectors.
This marks yet another violation of the ceasefire agreement, reigniting concerns about stability along the border. The latest incident comes in the wake of heightened tensions following the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives, the majority of whom were tourists.
