Air raid sirens blared and explosions rocked Jammu on the night as Pakistan launched a coordinated drone and suspected missile attack

Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistan fired eight missiles directed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura and Arnia, and all were intercepted and blocked by air defence units, defence sources said on Thursday.
Sources said the attack resembled a Hamas-style operation in Israel, where Multiple cheap rockets are used to target cities. Pakistan Army is operating and behaving like a terror organisation, Hamas. Last month, ISI and Hamas met in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Explosions were heard as Indian air defence intercepted Pakistani drones in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistani drones were intercepted by Indian air defence in Jaisalmer. Explosions were heard and flashes seen in the sky.
A complete blackout has been enforced in Bikaner in Rajasthan and in Jalandhar in Punjab. Blackouts have also been enforced in Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, Jammu, and Amritsar, Jalandhar.
Escalating its tensions with India, Pakistan targeted Jammu with loitering munitions on Thursday and Indian Air Defence guns are firing back.
The attack is part of a broader offensive by Pakistan, which the Indian Armed Forces stated they successfully countered. During a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) press briefing, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi detailed the Indian response to Pakistan's actions.
Colonel Qureshi confirmed that India's Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems effectively neutralized the threats. She stated that Indian Armed Forces conducted retaliatory strikes on multiple air defense radars and systems within Pakistan earlier that morning.
"This morning, the Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. The Indian response has been in the same domain with the same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralized," Colonel Qureshi asserted.
Referring to the previous day's briefing on 'Operation Sindoor', Colonel Qureshi reiterated India's stance: "During the press briefing on Operation Sindoor on 07 May 2025, India had called its response as focused, measured, and non-escalatory. It was specifically mentioned that Pakistani military establishments had not been targeted. It was also reiterated that any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response."
Colonel Qureshi outlined the extent of Pakistan's attempted attacks: "On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralized by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations, which proves the Pakistani attacks."
The situation in Jammu is particularly tense, with the city already under heavy artillery fire amid continued ceasefire violations. The intensity of Pakistani shelling has reportedly increased following India's military strikes on nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early Wednesday.
"During the intervening night of May 7 and 8, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked fire using small arms and artillery guns across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir," a military official said. "The Indian Army responded proportionately," the official added.
Due to the escalating tensions, authorities have ordered the closure of all educational institutions in five border districts of the Jammu region for the second consecutive day
