Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off three new Vande Bharat Express trains from Kashi (Varanasi) on November 7, 2025, as part of his two-day visit to the holy city. The addition of these trains marks another major step in Indian Railways’ modernisation and regional connectivity initiatives.
According to officials, PM Modi will flag off the Varanasi–Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express in person from Varanasi Junction (Cantonment) at 7:30 pm, while two other trains — Firozpur–Delhi and Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express — will be inaugurated virtually.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar are expected to be present during the ceremony. District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar confirmed that PM Modi will stay overnight in Varanasi and depart for Bihar the following morning.

As per the Railway Board notification, the Train No. 26422 Varanasi–Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express will follow this schedule:
Departure: Varanasi Cantonment – 5:25 am
Stops: Vindhyachal – 6:55 am | Prayagraj Chheoki – 8:00 am | Chitrakoot – 10:05 am | Banda – 11:08 am | Mahoba – 12:08 pm
Arrival: Khajuraho – 1:10 pm
Return Journey (Train No. 26421):
Departure: Khajuraho – 3:00 pm
Stops: Mahoba – 4:18 pm | Banda – 5:13 pm | Chitrakoot Dham – 6:13 pm | Prayagraj Chheoki – 8:20 pm | Vindhyachal – 9:10 pm
Arrival: Varanasi Cantonment – 11:00 pm
The date of regular operation and fare details for the new service are expected to be announced soon after the inauguration.
These new semi-high-speed trains are expected to improve regional travel efficiency, reduce journey times, and enhance passenger comfort with advanced facilities and upgraded interiors.
The launch of three new Vande Bharat routes further strengthens the government’s focus on expanding India’s premium rail network and making modern travel accessible to more regions.
