Mumbai: A major security scare gripped the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan on Thursday morning after an anonymous email threatened to blow up the legislature complex. The threat arrived in the heat of the ongoing state budget session, leading to an immediate suspension of proceedings and evacuation of the premises.
Security agencies, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and sniffer dog units, were rushed to the South Mumbai landmark at Nariman Point.
An email was received early Thursday morning claiming that explosives had been planted within the Vidhan Bhavan.
Employees, officers, and staff were seen waiting outside the main gates as security teams conducted a floor-by-floor sweep.
