At least five passengers died after reportedly falling from a fast local train running between Mumbra and CSMT in Mumbai on Monday morning.

Mumbai: A tragic incident unfolded on Monday morning when at least 10 to 12 passengers reportedly fell from a fast-moving Mumbai suburban train travelling from Mumbra to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). As per preliminary reports, five people have died, and several others are feared to be critically injured.
The accident occurred as the local train sped along the suburban corridor. Eyewitnesses said that multiple passengers fell from the moving compartments, possibly due to overcrowding, sudden jerks, or malfunctioning doors. However, officials have yet to confirm the precise cause of the mishap.
Emergency responders and railway authorities reached the scene shortly after the incident was reported. While rescue efforts are underway, some services on the route have been delayed as safety assessments continue.
The deceased and injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals, though identities are still being verified. Authorities have appealed to the public to avoid speculation until a formal investigation provides clarity.
Mumbai’s suburban railway network—often called the city’s lifeline—carries millions daily but has long struggled with overcrowding and commuter safety challenges.
Further updates are expected as the situation develops and official statements are released.
