Washington: Following the security incident at a Washington, D.C. hotel during a high-profile journalists’ dinner attended by President Donald Trump and senior U.S. officials, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded with a message on social media expressing concern and solidarity.

In his post on X, Modi said he was relieved to learn that President Trump, the First Lady, and Vice President were safe and unharmed after the incident. He extended his best wishes for their continued safety and well-being, while strongly condemning the use of violence in any form.

The incident occurred on Saturday night at the Washington Hilton, where a man armed with guns and knives allegedly entered the venue and attempted to move toward the ballroom hosting the event. Authorities reported that guests were forced to take cover during the chaos, with some diving under tables after reports of gunfire outside the underground ballroom. A law enforcement officer was also struck in a bullet-resistant vest but is expected to recover.
