Counting of votes concluded in Assam’s Khowang Assembly constituency on May 4, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Chakradhar Gogoi defeating Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Lurinjyoti Gogoi by a margin of 9,984 votes to secure his third victory from the seat.
Khowang, located in the Dibrugarh district, is part of the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency and holds political significance due to its position in Assam’s oil and tea-producing belt. The constituency was earlier known as Moran before the delimitation exercise carried out in 2023.
The contest in Khowang was closely watched, with Chakradhar Gogoi emerging as a key contender for the BJP. His latest win reinforces his continued hold over the constituency and adds to the party’s performance in the region.
The result marks Gogoi’s third term from the seat, underlining his sustained electoral presence in this politically important constituency.

Smaller parties and independents are expected to play a limited but important role in select constituencies.
While exit polls suggest an NDA advantage, the actual outcome will depend on vote counting and ground-level performance across polling booths.
