New Delhi: Deepti Chaurasia (40), the daughter-in-law of KP Group and Kamla Pasand Pan Masala owner Kamal Kishor Chaurasia, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the family’s Vasant Vihar residence. Police say the case is being treated as an alleged suicide, but a detailed investigation is underway.

Deepti, married in 2010 and mother to a 14-year-old son, was found hanging on Tuesday afternoon. Her body was taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where a team of doctors will conduct the post-mortem.

Brother alleges harassment, domestic violence

Speaking to the media, Deepti’s brother Rishabh accused her husband and mother-in-law of long-term physical and emotional abuse.

“Her mother-in-law and husband used to beat her,” Rishabh alleged.

“Her husband, Harpreet, had affairs. When we found out, we brought our sister home. Later, her mother-in-law took her back, saying she would take care of her like a daughter. But my sister kept calling, telling me she was tortured and that her husband still had affairs." Rishabh added that the family is unsure whether Deepti died by suicide or was killed.

“I spoke to her 2–3 days ago. I just want justice,” he said.

Suicide note surfaces

According to police sources, investigators recovered a diary in which Deepti reportedly mentioned disputes with her husband, Harpreet Chaurasia. However, another note allegedly found in the room states that she “does not blame anyone”, with a line reading, “If there is no love and trust in a relationship, what is the point of life?”

Police are verifying the authenticity of both notes.
