Kozhikode: K Ajitha announced on Friday that she will stage a protest in front of the AKG Centre if MLA M Mukesh, accused in a sexual assault case, does not resign within two days. Ajitha criticised the Left government, urging them not to defend individuals involved in such crimes, and condemned the government's stance of protecting Mukesh, saying it undermines the good work done so far.
Ajitha pointed out that in the past, public servants would commonly step down when faced with allegations. She emphasised that this practice should be upheld, insisting that if someone is found guilty, they must resign. This needs to change, Ajitha remarked, urging those facing serious accusations to step aside.
She further added that she does not anticipate any justification from the Left government by comparing their actions to those of other parties that have remained in office under similar circumstances. Ajitha also mentioned that the association of women activists has already sent a letter to the state and national leaders of CPM and CPI, demanding Mukesh’s resignation.
