New Delhi: Authorities are investigating the involvement of a woman in the incident where bundles of currency notes were found from the official residence of Justice Yashwant Varma after a fire incident. The probe focuses on the role of a woman who arrived on the premises in a car shortly after the fire broke out. Investigators are also examining whether she received police assistance in moving both burnt and unburnt currency notes from the storeroom.

The inquiry extends to two police officers and a junior officer, with officials looking into whether they were misled by the woman’s persuasive words. Investigators are also determining whether these officers granted her access to the storeroom where the fire occurred. 

Questions have been raised from multiple angles regarding the whereabouts of the burnt currency notes, making the ongoing investigation into the woman and the police personnel very crucial.

Following the fire, the phones of five police officers who arrived at Justice Verma’s residence were sent for examination, as the inquiry team suspected that they may contain key information. Statements from these officers have already been recorded. In addition,
Delhi Fire Service Chief Atul Garg has provided his testimony, which was documented at Haryana Government’s Chanakyapuri Guest House. Garg has claimed that he never stated to the media that bundles of currency notes were not burnt at Justice Verma’s residence.
